How to Choose a Memorial Poem Or Verse For a Funeral Or Life Celebration

Posted under Home Closing by admin on Wednesday 15 February 2012 at 01:29

When choosing a poem or verse for a life celebration, funeral or memorial service you will first want to consider where you plan to use the poems and verses. Today, many people are going beyond just prayer cards and bookmarks and creating memorial service folders and various memorial favors. You also may wish to print the same poem or verse on thank-you notes that you will send out. If you are using the verse on a small size card obviously you will want to choose a shorter poem or verse.

Next, you will want a verse that most closely captures the essence of the person. Sometimes this may even come in the form of musical verse from the person’s favorite band or singer. You may want to peruse their music selection to see if you can find some song lyrics that might be appropriate. Perhaps a family member or even a young family member could write a poem. Experts recommend writing as an effective form of grieving. Children, although very simple in their thoughts can often write very moving words.

Consider that the poem does not have to be about death but instead how they lived their lives. For example;

“To love for the sake of being loved is human,

but to love for the sake of loving is angelic.”

By Alphonse de Lamartine

Not all horses were born equal.

Some were born to win.

By Mark Twain

To laugh often and much;

to win the respect of the intelligent people

and the affection of children;

to earn the appreciation of honest critics

and endure the betrayal of false friends;

to appreciate beauty;

to find the best in others;

to leave the world a bit better

whether by a healthy child,

a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition;

to know that one life has breathed easier

because you lived here.

This is to have succeeded.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Love is also a common theme;

To Those Whom I Love and Those Who Love Me

When I am gone, release me, let me go

I have so many things to see and do

You must not tie yourself to me with tears

Be happy that I have had so many years

I gave you my love, you can only guess

How much you gave me in happiness

I think you for the love each have shown

But now it is time I traveled on alone

So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must

Then let your grief be comforted by trust

It is only for a while that we must part

So bless the memories in your heart

I will not be far away, for life goes on

So if you need me, call and I will come

Though you can not see or touch me, I will be near

And if you listen with your heart, you will hear

All of my love around you soft and clear

Then, when you must come this way alone

I will greet you with a smile and a

Love Lives On

Those we love remain with us

for love itself lives on,

and cherished memories never fade

because a loved one’s gone.

Those we love can never be

more than a thought apart,

far as long as there is memory,

they’ll live on in the heart.

If the person was religious, the most common or traditional verse for Catholic and religious services has been the 23rd Psalm.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the path of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

King James Version

The following poems and verses are more focused on death;

I Wish You Enough

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.

I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

I wish you enough “Hello’s” to get you through the final “Goodbye.

Death is Nothing

Death is nothing at all

I have only slipped away into the next room

I am I and you are you.

Whatever we were to each other

That we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name

Speak to me in the easy way which you always used

Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes

We enjoyed together.

Play, smile, think of me, pray for me,

Let my name be ever the household word that

It always was.

Let it be spoken without effort,

Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant

It is the same as it ever was

There is absolutely unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of mind because I am

Out of sight? I am but waiting for you

For an interval

Somewhere very near

Just around the corner.

All is well.

Canon Henry Scott Holland (1847-1918)

I turn my head and look towards death now.

Feeling my way through the tunnel with the space of

emptiness and quiet.

The shimmering silence that awaits me.

This is my direction now; inward to the green pastures…

The cares of the world concern me no longer.

I have completed this life. My work is done, my

children grown.

My husband is well on his hero’s journey.

I have loved much and well…

Those I leave behind, I love.

I hope I will remain in their hearts as they will

in mine…

Thank you for taking such good care of me…

And all of you who have been my friends, thank you

for teaching me about love.

Karen Vervaet from “Karen’s Journal, 3 April 1993

In closing, memorial services and life celebrations are about the person that was lost and the life that they lived. It is up to you to decide what will help you and the people who attend to best remember and celebrate the life of that person.

Quick And Easy Way To Home Package Cookies With These 8 Yummy Creative Ideas

Posted under Home Closing by admin on Wednesday 8 February 2012 at 17:50

You’ve spent the time and effort to bake your delicious homemade cookie gifts, now it’s time to package them!

Don’t spoil all your hard work with boring cookie boxes and packaging ideas.

You want cookie gifts that say “Yummy!” – Perception is everything!

First impressions are truly important. So it’s unavoidable that you make a little effort to package your home-baked treats.

But where do you start? Here it is…

Theme:

Think about what the theme is for your cookie gift packages. For example, it is a birthday gift or for Christmas holiday giving? Perhaps it’s for your Valentine? Use the theme on your packaging.

Ingredients:

What are the main flavors or the cookie ingredients you used? Apply this element to help enhance the aroma that you may want to portray on your cookie boxes or packages.

Protection:

Are your cookies fragile? Or do they need to be air-tight and stored in the fridge? Consider using for example, zip seal bags, if necessary.

Hygiene:

Always clean any used containers (or even store-bought new boxes) and dry before using.

When decorating your packages, be sure to use food safe items. Eg. Don’t use glues where cookies may be in contact. Consider the point that your cookie gift recipient may not always be as careful as you when replacing cookies back into containers. Think from their viewpoint and see whether there is an alternative method for better hygiene.

With that said and done, here are your “8 Yummy Creative Package Ideas”:

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 1:

“The Coffee Cup”

You may have seen a similar idea before, using a mug or coffee cup, but this is really a brilliant idea as people associate coffee cups with aroma.

Whether it be coffee or tea, this idea spells: ‘Good times with a friend over a cup of coffee/tea and some sweets!’

- Pre-pack about 2 – 4 cookies in cellophane or sealed bag and place inside cup.

- Embellish with a gift tag and fabric ribbon around cellophane. (You can also write a message or recipient name on the mug).

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 2:

“Milk Carton”

This is perfect for butter cookies or packaging cookies for children. Either way, the milk carton makes a great packaging box.

- Wash and dry container before use. Carefully open the top without tearing the cardboard.

- Place cookies inside.

- Seal top with staples or strong sticky-tape. (Do not use glues as they are unhygienic and not re-openable.

- Decorate exterior with wrapping paper or fabric and ribbon.

If you are computer savvy, you could create a milk carton label with recipient name, theme graphics and colors to print and apply to your cookie carton!

Use one litre carton for giving to an entire family or a smaller carton for children or single recipients.

This is a great container for refrigerating your cookies also. Plus, the benefit is that the design of the carton semi-closes on its own with the folding techniques incorporated.

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 3:

“Peanut Butter Bottle”

Great for peanut butter cookies! The theme, feeling and association is already there! And you don’t even need to worry about pealing the bottle stickers off. Use it instead to create a quirky cookie packaging.

Use a square piece of fabric almost twice as large as the lid size and cover cookies before closing with the lid to create instant effective packaging.

Create a label digitally and print out for a dynamic gift. You don’t have to cover the entire glass or bottle, leave a bit of room so they can take a peek at the yummy cookies you baked.

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 4:

“Butter or Margarine Containers”

Unusual but very effective and fun. What’s more, it has a lid and is lightweight for posting your cookies. Just keep in mind that most butter containers aren’t air-tight.

You can decorate the exterior by creating your own labels, or sticking appropriate wrapping paper over. I recommend a food style, earthy tones and colors for this method.

Lastly, tie a ribbon around the package like you would a gift box. Large wide ribbons would give you a dazzling package.

Great for milk and butter cookies.

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 5:

“Milo or Food Tins (with lid)”

Tins come in all different sizes and are great for air-tight cookie storing. And you won’t have to pre-package your cookies in bags first.

Ideal for cookies that do not need to be refrigerated.

Also makes a great cookie gifting idea for boys or men.

You can even etch in writing or graphics onto the tin if you have the proper tools and use correct safety precautions.

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 6:

“Candy or Chocolate Boxes”

Candies and cookies go hand in hand! These are little treats that the whole world love!

- Place your cookies lying flat into the box. You may need to take out the pre-made mould shapes used and use cardboard dividers to separate your cookies.

- Simply tie with ribbon and gift tag the package!

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 7:

“Cocktail or Martini Glass”

Great for alcohol-based cookies like rum balls during Christmas season!

- Place one cookie or two in cellophane, seal and place inside glass.

- Seal glass with clear food wrapping. Add ribbon and gift tag on glass stalk.

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 8:

“Tea Box”

Use small aroma infusion tea packaging boxes – usually ones that have only 10 tea-bags in each box. You can pack 2 to 3 cookies in each box and give more than one tea box for fun.

- Seal cookies with cellophane or food bag first and place inside decorated tea boxes.

Why not leave one tea bag in front of your cookies? It’s a perfect invitation to a relaxing snack with a drink.

If you do not have any of these containers handy, you can easily buy them and transfer contents to other containers. Just make sure that it’s well washed and that most of the original scents are gone (except in the case such as the peanut butter bottles).

Not only are these 8 Yummy Ideas creative and fun, they also bring out the aroma of your delicious homemade cookies.

Start using these mouth-watering cookie packaging ideas. It’s a sure way that your cookies will be eaten instantly!

Green Hills of Tyrol

The King’s Own Scottish Borderers and the 78th Highlanders of Canada play this fine bagpipe tune, Sept 2005 at the Estes Park Scottish Festival in Colorado. The Green Hills Of Tyrol There was a soldier, a Scottish soldier, Who wandered far away and soldiered far away, There was none bolder, with good broad shoulders, He fought in many a fray and fought and won. He’s seen the glory, he’s told the story, Of battles glorious and deeds victorious. But now he’s sighing, his heart is crying, To leave these green hills of Tyrol. Chorus: Because these green hills are not Highland hills Or the Island’s hills, they’re not my land’s hills, As fair as these green foreign hills may be They are not the hills of home. And now this soldier, this Scottish soldier, Who wandered far away and soldiered far away, Sees leaves are falling, and death is calling, And he will fade away, on that dark land. He called his piper, his trusty piper, And bade him sound away, a pibroch sad to play, Upon a hillside, a Scottish hillside Not on these green hills of Tyrol Chorus: And now this soldier, this Scottish soldier, Who wanders far no more, and soldiers far no more, Now on a hillside, a Scottish hillside, You’ll see a piper play this soldier home. He’s seen the glory, he’s told the story, Of battles glorious, and deeds victorious; But he will cease now, he is at peace now, Far from these green hills of Tyrol Chorus:

How to Permanently Delete Files – Using Windows Secret Built-In Tool

Posted under Home Closing by admin on Tuesday 3 January 2012 at 05:54

You may or may not know that when you drag items to the trash on your computer, they aren’t permanently deleted. Just watch an episode of your favorite CSI show, and you’ll see that its possible to recover files that haven’t been deleted properly. And while I’m sure you’re not guilty of any CSI type crimes (or are you?), I’m sure you want to figure out how to permanently delete your files and keep your private things private — after all everyone has to have some secrets!

Why emptying your recycling bin doesn’t permanently delete your files

When you tell your computer to empty its recycling bin, your operating system only deletes the records it has of the files you want to delete. Yet the files still remain on the hard drive memory.

Here’s an analogy: If you think of your files as books in a library and you decide you no longer have use for a certain book. Emptying the trash is equivalent to removing the entry in the library’s card catalog. The book is still there but not easily found by everyday visitors. But if someone really wanted to find it, and had a clue where to look, they quite possibly do so since it is still physically there.

What it means to permanently delete a file

To permanently delete a file, you need to not only delete its record, but also overwrite the physical portion of the hard drive where it lives. A low level format is equivalent to replacing your private file with random bits (1’s and 0’s). Continuing with the library analogy you need to remove remove the book, shred it, light up in flames and possibly replace it with a different book

A simple way to permanently delete?

According to Microsoft, there is a keyboard shortcut in Windows to, quote, “permanently delete files”. You do this by selecting your file and hitting SHIFT+DEL. Convinced? Neither am I. What they’re really explaining is a shortcut from having to move the item to the trash and then emptying the trash.

Take it a step further

Here’s a poor man’s version of permanent deletion. Delete your files, empty your recycle bin, and run Disk Defragmenter located in the Start menu under Accessories/System Tools. What this will do is optimize your hard drive by rearranging (most) of your files, and in doing so will most likely overwrite the files you want permanently deleted. Nice!

Do it right and do it better

While performing a defragmentation will probably do the trick, it’s really not a viable solution. Waiting for disk defragmentation is not something I’d do every time I wanted to do a permanent deletion. The defragmentation process is way too long. The right way to how to permanently and quickly delete files is to use a program specifically designed for that purpose. You’re in luck too because most Windows operating systems have a command line tool called CIPHER to do the trick!

Here’s how to use CIPHER:

1. After closing all windows, open up a command window.

2. Type the following: cipher /w:driveletter:foldername where driveletter and foldername correspond to the drive a location of where your deleted file used to live.

3. Sit back and enjoy your freedom and privacy while your file is truly permanently deleted!

Here’s an example:

I have a picture I want permanently deleted which stored on my computer at the following location:

C:imagesscandalous_picture.jpg

After deleting this picture and emptying the recycle bin, I would type the following (in a command prompt) to ensure that I can still run for senator (as long as they don’t catch me in the airport bathroom):

C:>cipher /w:C:images

I can then move on to my life of privacy and carefree surfing!

You can do better!

Although I’m comfortable working with the command prompt, you may not be. No worries, there are plenty of other graphical based software tools that perform true permanent file deletion — not to mention they are much less tedious to use. The review at freedback.org/Reviews/Software/Permanently-Delete-Files.html gives a good overview of some of the most popular graphic-based file deletion software available.

Need Cash For a Home Closing? Consider a Gift

Posted under Home Closing by admin on Thursday 29 December 2011 at 09:30

I saw a cartoon the other day that was pretty funny, but also pretty sad when you think about it. It showed a couple sitting across from a mortgage lender, and the caption read, “We’re here to apply for a tank of gas.” With increases in prices for just about everything, it gets more and more difficult to stash away a nest egg for a down payment. And pretty much every loan requires some part of down payment, even if you get a 100% financing loan. After all, you still are generally going to be required to put down some earnest money on your contract and in most cases, pay for an appraisal up front. You may have been trying to save it up on your own, but it may be time to accept some help from your family.

Most loan programs, be it Conventional, FHA, VA or Rural Housing, require the borrower to pay for something. In particular, FHA and Conventional home purchases want a minimum of 3% to come out of the borrower’s pocket. If you are doing a Conventional loan, you still can’t receive a gift for your 3% down payment, but you can use a gift to help with closing costs. However, FHA will allow your source of down payment to be a gift. So, if you find yourself a bit short on cash, you may need to ask someone to gift you the down payment or closing costs (or if your really lucky, and it’s allowed – both!).

All lenders are particular about just who can give you a gift for your down payment or closing costs. Pretty much across the board, the gift must be from a blood relative. You may have to prove that the gifter is a relative thru birth certificates, christening records, etc. Strange but true. Conventional loans will also allow an employer to give you a gift. But in any case, the most important factor is that whoever is giving the gift does not expect to be paid back. A certification to that effect will be required to be signed by the donor. Otherwise, it’s really a loan, now isn’t it? And as a responsible lender, we’re going to include that payment in your debt to income ratio, and we’ll probably want a bunch of documentation to prove the terms, etc. So, make sure it truly is a gift.

As of the date I’m writing this article, FHA will allow for down payment assistance programs, such as Nehemiah or Ameridream. Lenders view these products as “gifts” in a sense. They are basically seller concessions funneled through the down payment assistance channels. However, by the time this article is published, they may be null and void. It’s currently being reviewed and could go away. Or it may still be there, but just know it’s under review.

Lenders are very particular about how the gift funds reach the closing table. If you deposit the gift before closing, you have to show it coming out of the donor’s account and depositing into your account. It’s a lot of paper to collect. The easiest method is for Grandpa or your Great Aunt to just send a cashier’s check payable to you and your title company to the closing table. Smoother, quicker, simpler.

Gifts are a wonderful thing, and a gift of a down payment is a useful gift. After all, I think it’s safe to say that homeownership is one gift that keeps on giving, wouldn’t you?

2011 Asian Cup Opening Ceremony, Qatar

Posted under Home Closing by mild on Sunday 24 April 2011 at 22:54

The Asian Cup 2011 kicked off yesterday with a colourful opening ceremony at the Khalifa Stadium that gave a glimpse of what to expect of Qatar when it hosts the World Cup in 2022. But the home team failed to live up to the expectations losing the opening match 2-0 to Uzbekistan. The half-an-hour-long ceremony began with fireworks as a prelude just as the stadium lights were switched off temporarily. The spectators, who filled the 50000-capacity stadium, being invited to sing Qatar’s national anthem, as a “very special gift” for His Highness the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, performed “As Salam al Amiri” as the Emir entered the stadium. The spotlight then shone on an elderly gentleman and child who addressed the Qatari ruler, praising him for his efforts in developing the nation. The spectators were then treated with a dazzling display of lights, fireworks that lit up the night sky. The entire play arena resembled a sea of white as artistes paraded with white flags even as hi-tech laser projected images of flags of 16 participating countries inviting loud cheers from the galleries. But it was a disappointing evening for the home fans as Qatar went down tamely to Uzbekistan, losing the opening match 2-0. After a goalless opening half, Odil Akhmedov put the Central Asians ahead in the 58th minute and Server Djeparov adding another in the 77th minute to go top of Group A with three points. Qatar had the first close look at the goal but Fabio Cesar’s header in the

EVERY TIME YOU GO AWAY – PAUL YOUNG – (1985)

Posted under Home Closing by mild on Monday 18 April 2011 at 18:24

PAUL YOUNG (Luton, 17 de janeiro de 1956) é um cantor inglês. Biography Paul Young was born in Luton, Bedfordshire, England. He has an older brother, Mark Young, and a younger sister, Joanne Young.[1] As a youth, after school, he played football for the Vauxhall Motors factory and in his spare time played in several bands as a bass guitarist. The first group for which he became lead singer was Kat Kool & The Kool Kats. In the late 1970s he joined Streetband, who had one Top 20 hit in the UK, with the humorous, novelty track “Toast”. The single peaked at No. 18 in November 1978. In December 1979 the Streetband broke up and Young formed the Q-Tips, who established their name by playing live but had no hits in the UK, although their single “Letter Song” did enjoy minor success in mainland Europe. The Q-Tips disbanded in 1982, and Young was signed by CBS Records as a solo performer. By way of tying up some loose contractual ends, Paul Young embarked on the ‘Last Chance To See The Best Live Band In The World Tour’ throughout March and April of ‘82. Though initially billed as Q-Tips, only keyboardist Ian Kewley accompanied Young, and without the surging brass section of Q-Tips, the band had an entirely different dynamic. The Rewind label issued a live set of Q-Tips during this period, ‘Live At Last’, and a decade later the band’s much vaunted BBC sessions were officially released. The famed Q-Tips brass section toured with Adam Ant during his ‘Friend Or Foe’ tour, but aside
